LT Series Interactive Whiteboard FAQ

Q. What computer applications are available for my Webster LT?

A. PolyVision provides a suite of applications for Webster LT users.  These applications are complimentary licensed, so you can install them on as many computers as necessary.  For a more complete description see the General Overview of Webster LT Series Applications section. The suite includes:

  • SBRecord: general-purpose recording/playback application
  • SBMeeting: designed for product usage in multi-purpose conference rooms, used in succession by different groups of people
  • SBJournal: continually records and manages ideas gathered on the Webster LT over time
  • SBView: to view, play back or print previously saved recordings
  • SBProjection: when combined with a computer projector, enables the user to control a Windows desktop directly from the whiteboard surface
  • SBMarkup: allows user to “capture” a screen snapshot and annotate over the image

Q. What file format does the Webster LT use?  How large are the files?

A. The default file format for the Webster LT series is a vector display format, .sbd.  Several other file formats — available to export single pages — apply to SBRecord, SBMeeting, SBJournal and SBView.  Size varies depending on how much information is drawn on the whiteboard.

Q. How can someone review a file after the meeting?  Can we edit these pages?

A. There are several ways to view previously recorded Webster LT Series files. Through

SBView, anyone can view or print pages from a previously recorded session exactly as it was created, however, users cannot make changes to the file. SBRecord enables users to change the existing file, including the ability to erase information, insert and remove page breaks, and copy or delete pages.

Q. Can I use the Webster LT Series whiteboard with my existing LCD Projector?

A. Yes.  The Webster LT Series whiteboard works with any LCD projector.  Simply plug both units into the same computer, and project the computer image onto the interactive whiteboard surface.  The SBProjection application enables users to control the computer from the whiteboard surface.  The gray stylus performs just like a computer mouse.  Double tap on application icon to launch an application, and use SBMarkup to capture and annotate any computer image.

Q. Does SB Projection support “right” mouse clicks?

A. This function depends on the Webster LT Series being used.  All Webster LT System 300/400/500s have an electronic stylus with two buttons on the pen barrel.  The button closest to the pen tip is the “right” mouse click.  The Webster LT Series whiteboard also has a “right” mouse click function.  This feature is available via a software applet.  SoftBoard Pen Control (SBProjection), has the option of enabling a “Key Palette” that allows the user to switch between right and left mouse clicks.

Q. Are handwriting recognition applications available?

A. Several third party software applications are available.  Using the Webster LT Series whiteboard in projection mode or System 300/400/500s, applications such as SMART writer by Advanced Recognition Technologies, Inc. or PenOffice by Paragraph convert handwriting into text, and directly exports to documents in applications such as Microsoft Excel or Word.

Q. Can I use standard dry erase makers on my Webster LT
Series whiteboard?

A. Yes, however, if using non-Webster LT pens, you will not be able to record information to the computer.  The Webster LT Series pens have reflective collars permanently mounted on the tips to automatically determine color and position on the whiteboard.  Additionally, Webster LT pens are alcohol based (no Keytone), are odorless and greatly reduce the amount of pen dust generated.
